JFS

Well, it looks like Jacqui Fucking Smith is at it again, with her Big Brother wet dreams once again helping to erode the civil liberties we used to enjoy. According to news reports in the Times online she has stated that the government will not be going ahead with its plans to produce a mega database of every single digital media communication - that is telephone calls, emails, websites visited, social network exchanges and so on. However it has been revealed that ISPs will be expected to collect this information so that it can all be linked to one central computer where all the information will be stored and collated. But as long as they don't actually call it a mega database then we, the dumb public will not catch on and we will not realise what is happening.
This database is not to be confused with the current one which came into effect a few weeks
ago (which I mentioned here). That one simply records who you have spoken to, what websites you visit etc. This new one will actually record all the data transferred, whether that is a verbal conversation, the content of an email or the comment you leave on a forum.
Anyway, just as I was sitting here fuming I came across this idea from a blogger on ITPRO, which at least raised a smile.
